The Jebel Akhdar, Jabal Akhdar or Al Jabal Al Akhdar (meaning the “Green Mountain” in Arabic) is one of Oman’s most spectacular areas. Jebel Akhdar is central of Al Hajar Mountains range. The range is mostly rocky mountain and desert. However, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of nothing, there is something precious and worth the journey.
Like a hidden charm of Oman, the Green mountain allows Omani to grow trees and support agriculture. Like a gift from God, it provides fresh air to cool down the summer heat with the breathtaking views of the stony mountainsides.
An unforgettable road trip
My adventure partner was surprising me with this road trip driving from Abu Dhabi. It was a long drive but the view was absolutely amazing and worth every penny you spent on petrol and every hour you were driving on the road. Especially with the one you love, it worths a real adventure.
The beauty of the desert was incredible with high rocky mountains, dry bushes along the road, the shining sun, heat, dust, the dunes, camels, goats… etc. Everything makes the desert picture perfect.
As we were driving up to the Al Hajar Mountains, we experienced such a cool feeling of letting loose all the stress and heat behind at the bottom of the mountain. We were climbing up. We felt so light and free. The temperature dropped down from 30 Celsius degree to 20, and 16 to 13 at night.
A beautiful and well-maintained resort
When we reached to Anantara resort in the Jebel Akhdar to spend a weekend night there, we were so amazed by the view of the Green mountain the resort owns. By just opening our room’s balcony door, the hidden charm “Green mountain” was in front of our eyes. It was absolutely unbelievable!
Life is an adventure! Every place, every corner on earth has its own beauty. In the dry, golden and sandy desert, there is a green place to give your busy mind a pause.
We are so gifted with nature. Treasure and protect everywhere you go, so you still can have a place to come back one day.
Sitting together, looking at the view, having a cup of tea, silencing the moment for a while, we enjoyed every moment of our quick weekend escape to the Green mountain…
