As women, we all want to look young and beautiful with glowy and healthy skin. Although you are gifted with flawless skin since birth, you still need to take care of it to maintain and nourish it in the battle against ageing.
There are thousands of skincare tips shared online/offline every day by professionals, experts, beauty bloggers, etc, that you can easily find and access to. There are also different ways of a skincare routine depending on different skin types as well as body organs. However, the basic skincare routine is advised and applied the same for everyone. From there, you can enhance more to help your skin reach the desired result.
Today, The Wifey Life will share the 5 steps of a basic skincare routine, not only to help you take good care of your skin but also to draw your attention and enjoyment to self-care practices.
Know your skin type
First of all, you need to know your skin type. There are 5 types of skin:
Normal skin
Dry skin
Oily skin
Sensitive skin
Combination skin
Your skin may transform into different types depending on your body organs at different periods of life or the impact of living condition and weather. I used to have oily skin since puberty. When I was 24, I moved to Dubai and started flying as a flight attendant. My living condition changed as I lived indoor with air conditioner most of the time, so my skin became dry and sensitive. When I stopped flying for 2 years until now, I'm having combination skin.
Identify your skin type is important because it will help you choose the right skincare products which are suitable for your skin. Therefore, you'll be able to bring out the best result of the products for your skin.
Let's begin!
Skincare products
As mentioned above, I currently have combination skin. Therefore, the products I've been using suit combination or sensitive skin. Research carefully and perform an Allergy Alert Test (AAT) thoroughly 48 hours before applying any new product on your facial skin.
Take a small amount of the product and apply on your hand skin and the skin area behind your earlobe, then observe if there's any reaction, rashes or itches, burn or swelling on the surface of your skin. If there isn't after 48 hours, you can go ahead and use the products. If there is a reaction, you need to seek professional help from a dermatologist.
From left to right:
Red Peel Tingle Serum by So Natural: It's a liquid facial exfoliant and advised to use weekly, but my skin is quite sensitive so I use it every 2 weeks and it brings out a good result. That's why you need to understand and listen to your skin. This exfoliant will remove dead skin cells and blackheads, also boost your skin tone.
AHC Ampoule - Red: It's an anti-ageing and moisturising serum. It provides collagen to the skin and gives the skin a youthful look. Also, the serum smells nice.
Snail Truecica serum by Some By Mi: It's quite a thick serum which helps lighten dark spots and tighten pores.
Snail Truecica toner by Some By Mi: It's very light toner and quickly absorbed to your skin. I like Some By Mi products due to the effective result, comparative price and non-smelling products.
Lip Sleeping Mask by Laneige - Berry: Softly moisturising your lips with a lovely and sweet berry smell.
Perfect 9 repair eye cream by Innisfree: The smell is very relaxing and the moisturisation helps your eye skin soft and tight.
My skin is not perfect and I was not gifted with flawless skin. I've been through breakouts, dark spots, and scars to realise how important a basic skincare routine is. My skin has improved since I learned to take care of it and listen to it. I don't go over the 5 steps above, because it also depends on the balance of what you eat. Less salt and sugar intake, less frying meals will prevent your skin from breakouts. Add more fruits and vegetables to your eating habit to help your skin look young. Finally, don't forget water to hydrate your skin as well as your body throughout the day!
Natural skin with the right care always lasts longer than cosmetic surgery skin, because there will be no side effects to worry about. Self-care is crucial to your physical and mental health. Love yourself the right way to always look young, beautiful and happy!
